Turtle
Arthur “Turtle” Tamoy is without a doubt, the best in the business. One of the worlds leading indigenous performers, Turtle has a performance profile second to none. His father is from the Pitjanjarra people of central Australia, and his mother from Badu Island in the Torres Straits Islands. Turtle has travelled to and performed in over 30 countries, with audiences including royalty, heads of state and millions of viewers in countless nations through television programs such as Discovery. Turtle is a dynamic dancer, yidaki player and song man, and a true Australian character.
Bennelong
Bennelong is from the Gumbaynggirr people of Northern NSW , around the Nambucca heads region. A talented traditional dancer, Yidaki player and singer, Bennelong has performed internationally across western and eastern Europe, USA, Africa, the Caribbean and New Zealand. As well as being a strong traditional cultural performer, Bennelong is equally as versatile as a contemporary guitarist and songwriter.
Djhan
Djhan is from central and Far North Queensland, where rainforest meets the reef. The strongest Yidaki player in the spirit of the Land, Djhan is also an awesome traditional dancer performing many dances from his home country in Australias North. Djhan is a strong cultural ambassador ,and has represented Aboriginal Australia on several European and US tours, and well as countless events nationally around Australia. Djhan is also an evolving talent in the Australian Hip Hop scene as a lyrically stirring and thought provoking MC.
Wayne
Wayne is a dancer and Yidaki player performing dances from Ngmba Western NSW on his mothers side and North QLD on his fathers side. The Ngmba are freshwater people known for their stone fish traps, many several thousand years old. Wayne has performed and travelled extensively around Australia, including several seasons in Alice Springs as part of the Red Centre Dreaming.
Sherlock
Sherlock is a dynamic charismatic character, with an infectious sense of humour and deep love of life and the natural world. He is the tour manager for Spirit of the Land and an ambassador for the Unicorn foundation of Friendship. Sherlock is a prolific artist and poet, creating works in his unique abstoriginal style - abstract original star art.
Scotty
Scott Wilson is a musician and visual artist who has worked alongside Indigenous performers and artists for the last 9 years. After extensive travel in the Australian outback and visiting remote Aboriginal communities, Scott was inspired to co-create with Indigenous cultural performers, creating the Spirit of the land. Collaborating with artists from the top end, north Queensland, central desert and NSW. The group regularly performs locally and internationally, with several successful European and Asian tours and over 100,000 CDs sold independently. Scott is also currently studying a double major cultural heritage/environmental science degree at Southern Cross University in Lismore.
